Reconciliation Week Street Banner.jpg

Reconciliation Week is celebrated from 27 May to 3 June each year. This year's reconciliation message is Don't Keep History a Mystery.

To acknowledge Reconciliation Week, the Department coordinates the Street Banner Project which promotes reconciliation through banners, sponsored by organisations, being placed in prominent locations across Western Australia.

The project has been running since 2011 with the support of a growing number of organisations and local governments. This year, over 115 organisations are involved in sponsoring 335 reconciliation banners. The project has expanded to include:

  • City of Armadale
  • City of Bunbury
  • City of Cockburn
  • City of Gosnells
  • City of Greater Geraldton
  • City of Kalamunda
  • City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder
  • City of Mandurah
  • City of Perth
  • City of South Perth
  • City of Subiaco
  • City of Swan
  • City of Vincent
  • Shire of Broome
  • Town of Bassendean
  • Town of Victoria Park.

This project offers a positive contribution towards reconciliation and provides the opportunity for organisations to recognise the significant place of Aboriginal people and culture within our community. The Department encourages all corporate, government and non-government organisations and small businesses to support this project.
