Getting support after a critical incident

Jul 30, 2021, 13:45 PM

When tragedy or trauma strikes a sporting community, it can be helpful — or even vital — to be able to access pastoral care support.

The DLGSC has engaged Sports Chaplaincy Australia (SCA) to assist with Critical Incident and Trauma Counselling for sports, clubs and associated organisations. We’ll be delivering a Managing Through Trauma workshop to provide some advice and guidance to the industry in how to manage these events. More information on the workshop will be provided soon.

Under SCA’s ClubCare cover there’s access to critical incident services, pastoral care, on-call chaplains, a 1300 number for rapid response care, grief and loss debrief, resources and assistance with referrals to other healthcare professionals.

SCA has been running for more than 30 years and is committed to bringing another level to the game by investing in the complete athlete. Sports chaplains are dedicated to ensuring athletes are supported and performing at their best — both on and off the field.
