Kununurra water playground set to make a splash

The State Government has made a supersized splash in Kununurra with a new $3.2 million water playground.

Opening just in time for the Kimberley wet season, the playground is sure to be a hit with locals and tourists alike.

The 500 square metre space features play zones for different age groups from toddlers to teenagers, waterslides for all ages, water cannons, tipping buckets, a splash pad and a water spray area.

A life-size model crocodile will keep watch on users — making it the only play area in Kununurra where a saltie is welcome!

The water playground was fully funded by the State Government through the WA Recovery Plan. It is the first stage of the Kununurra Leisure Centre Redevelopment.

The State Government has also funded $6 million as a 2021 election commitment for stage two; development of a new 50 metre pool.

The playground’s design and construction was led by WA-based company Water Features by Design.
