Funding enriches regional art and culture
Local governments across the state are receiving support to undertake cultural planning, thanks to the latest round of culture and arts funding from the State Government.
The Leveraged Creative and Cultural Planning (LCCP) grants program encourages regional local governments to develop creative and cultural plans and deliver associated activities. The funding aims to inspire deeper community connections to art and culture, and to enrich the sector.
Funding was available in 2 areas towards the direct costs associated with developing a creative and cultural plan or implementing arts and cultural activities identified within a published creative and cultural plan.
Receiving a total amount of $164,922, the recipients of the 2022–23 round of LCCP funding are:
- Shire of Morawa — $25,000 for a feasibility study for an arts centre, gallery and workshop space
- City of Albany — $22,132 for a series of workshops to equip local artists and creatives with the business, marketing and practical skills required to support their success as art practitioners
- Shire of Coolgardie — $46,000 to develop their first creative and cultural plan
- City of Karratha — $46,220 to develop an arts development and events strategy
- Shire of Ravensthorpe — $25,570 to develop an arts and culture plan.
The LCCP is part of the Regional Arts and Cultural Investment Program which supports the planning, development, engagement and delivery of arts and cultural activities in regional and remote Western Australia.
