Works are underway on the construction of a new bike pump track in Byford which promises to be a vibrant recreational hub for the local community.

The Byford Bike Pump Track at Briggs Park is supported by $1.34 million in funding from the WA Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

The project will include the main pump track, jump lines and shade shelters as well as seating, with the project to meet the growing demand for the recreational activity in the area.

A pump track allows riders to generate momentum through body movements rather than pedalling and have become a popular addition to recreational precincts across Western Australia.

Local contractor Common Ground Trails Pty Ltd was recently awarded the contract to undertake the works on the pump track which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
