The Aboriginal Cultural Centre project Steering Committee (Phase 2) held its 12th meeting on 27 June 2025.

The Aboriginal Cultural Centre project Steering Committee (Phase 2) held its 12th meeting on 27 June 2025.

The Chair and Committee acknowledged the significant contribution and leadership of current Director Generals (DGs) for the project as departments transition to new entities from 1 July 2025. This included:
  • Lanie Chopping, Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC)
  • Jodie Cant, Department of Finance (DoF)
  • Rebecca Brown, Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI).
The Chair’s update included the following:
  • Confirmation of extension of non-government Committee members’ tenure to 31 December 2025
  • Proposed agenda for next three Committee meetings taking the meeting schedule up to December 2025.
Committee members were provided with information about the following matters:
  • Discussion paper on the asset and ownership governance model to be considered at a future Committee workshop.
The following items were noted by the Committee:
  • Project Governance Report
  • Project Definition Plan update
  • Gateway Review outcomes and final update
  • The operational plan and financial model to be considered at a future Committee workshop
  • The Cultural Engagement framework for Design
The Committee endorsed the following items:
  • Extension of Whadjuk Reference Group membership to conclusion of project design process
  • Non-government Steering Committee members to develop legacy statement and video interviews as record of their project contribution
  • Continuation of WA Tourism Executive Director Destination Development as member of Project Control Group while public sector reforms are still in progress
  • Communications-Media Dashboard report
  • Aboriginal Engagement update
  • Project Control Group Sub-Committee Update
  • Update to the Risk Dashboard and Risk Register
  • Project progress report update.
