Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) 2024–25 Annual Report has been published, marking the final chapter in our operations before we transitioned to the newly formed Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS) on 1 July 2025.
DLGSC included the portfolios of Local Government, Sport and Recreation, Creative Industries, Racing and Gaming (Liquor) and Multicultural Interests.
This annual report reflects a year of transformation, innovation, and community-focused delivery across Western Australia. It showcases the department’s pivotal role in shaping vibrant, inclusive, and resilient communities.
Here’s just a few of the key highlights:
- $59.7 million through 410 sport and recreation grants
- 216,000 physical activity hours at recreation camps
- $13.2 million to 35 arts organisations supporting 6,388 performances
- $37.45 million into the WA economy through the WA Regional Screen Fund and the WA Production Attraction Incentive Fund
- $730 million in major capital projects including the Perth Film Studios, Australian Hockey Centre and Perth Concert Hall
- Legislative reform for Local Government including Stop Puppy Farming, Control of Vehicles and Local Government Amendment Act
- Streamlining of liquor licensing policies – reducing the number from 54 to 14
- 1,050 people supported through the Banned Drinkers Register
- $1.2 million for community grants through the Office of Multicultural Interests
- $13.2 million for CaLD community infrastructure
- 17,480 students engaged through Community Language Program
- 92% stakeholder satisfaction with multicultural initiatives
