A new database is now available, revealing town blocks purchased, leased and licensed by Aboriginal people throughout Western Australia between 1900 and 1960.

Compiled by the Aboriginal History WA (AHWA) team as part of its truth-telling program, the initiative paints a new picture of the past with the discovery that at least 200 families actively acquired land in this early period.

The database has been compiled by AHWA to assist people seeking to learn more about their family history and the achievements of their ancestors.

AHWA is a dedicated research unit located within the State Library of WA that assists Aboriginal people in tracing their personal and family histories and records.
