Compliance Audit Return 2023

A portal for local governments

 
 

The purpose of this online portal is for local governments to prepare their 2023 Compliance Audit Return (CAR).

Under regulation 14 of the Local Government (Audit) Regulations 1996 local governments are required to carry out a compliance audit return for the period of 1 January to 31 December of each year.

Steps to start the CAR

  1. Register an account
    To register a new account select ‘Sign in’ at the top right corner of your screen, select the ‘Register tab’ and complete the request access form.
    You will then be required to verify your email address. After your email address has been confirmed by you, your request for access will be sent to the Support and Engagement team for verification.
    Please allow up to 48 hours for the verification. Once approved you will receive an email confirming access to start your CAR.
  2. Complete the CAR form
    Once you have completed the CAR form, a copy will be emailed to the registered email address.
  3. Submit the CAR once adopted by council
    Once council have adopted the CAR form, please upload the CAR form and council resolution to the portal and submit to DLGSC.

Please note: the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is currently transitioning to a new Smarthub program. As such, the Compliance Audit Return portal is a temporary portal until the new program is implemented

Previous Smarthub logins are no longer valid, and all users will need to register new accounts.
