Intro

The Combat Sports Commission (Commission) is committed to providing ongoing training and development for the combat sports industry.

This Industry Development Series event will cater for current and aspiring referees, judges and timekeepers focusing on boxing where the following topics will be discussed:

  • review of Unified Rules
  • judging criteria and official documents
  • simulated contests with emphasis on:
    • contest walkout to completion
    • fouls
    • stoppages
    • contestant warnings
    • doctor checks and stoppages
    • judging criteria
    • match scoring
    • timekeeping.

Presenter

Gary Ingraham is the presenter for the event.

Gary is eminently qualified, with over 30 years experience in the boxing industry as a contestant, trainer and official, including:

  • international recognition as a professional referee and judge who has officiated at both Commonwealth and World Title Fights throughout Australia, South Africa, Japan and South East Asia
  • long-standing as a head referee at many and varied boxing contests throughout Western Australia
  • current boxing and rehabilitation coach for the Fremantle Football Club
  • founder and owner of the Spring into Fitness Gymnasium which has been in operation successfully for more than 20 years.

Participant requirements:

  • note pad and pen
  • water bottle.
