Intro

Registrations are now open for the Talent Development Environments and Capability, Capacity and Evidence Informed Practices online workshop series.

In alignment with the broader Creating Progressive Development Environments and Experiences education series, these 4 workshops facilitated by Dr. Alex Lascu will help state sporting associations improve their understanding of pathway development in sport.

All 4 workshops will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams webinar. Attendance at all sessions is recommended, however not mandatory. Please select the sessions you would like to attend by following the registration prompts.

Who should attend?

All interested state sporting association staff in positions relevant to talent development environments.

Talent Development Environments

A knowledge generating and sharing session, where participants reflect on the principles that underpin their own unique environments, comment on principles from scientific research, and explore solutions to the biggest challenges in this space.

Objectives

  • understand own unique environments
  • increased understanding and exposure to scientific research
  • develop potential solutions to challenges faced in this space

Time: 5.00pm to 6.00pm (WST)

Capability and Capacity + Evidence Informed Practices

A knowledge generating and sharing session centred on what ‘evidence’ means and how it may inform practice, as well as how sporting organisations can effectively leverage their capacity and seek opportunities for improving capability. Alongside a pulse check on each topic within the unique context of each sport, this session will generate ideas for how to address knowledge and/or practice gaps, where to find (or grow) valuable and reliable information and learn from the vast experience of the sector. 

Objectives

  • able to identify what 'evidence' means and how it may inform practice
  • able to effectively leverage capacity in your organisation
  • distinguishing the appropriate opportunities to improve capability
  • applying pulse data with sport-specific lenses to generate ideas for how to address knowledge/practice gaps

Meet our presenter

Dr. Alex Lascu (she/they) is a Sport Scientist in Learning Design, specialising in how talent and skill development practices can inspire a lifelong love of sport and physical activity, and foster expert performance. With a PhD in Sport Science, Alex consults directly with sporting organisations and dedicates her time to talent and skill development across the globe.
