Bungle Bungles rock formations in the Purnululu National Park, Kimberley

Sounds of The Kimberley features 10 original songs from Kimberley-based acts who worked with established Western Australia producers and sound engineers to record the tracks on Djugun/Yawuru Country.

Since its release on April 24, the compilation has been streamed over 10,000 times on SoundCloud, YouTube and Spotify.

Songs from the album have been played by over 100 community broadcasters across Australia. This includes WA-based ABC stations and nationally on Triple J and Double J.

The album has also earned 'feature' record status at local station RTRFM and appears on the National ABC local playlist which services over 70 stations nationally

Sounds of The Kimberley is a part of West Australian Music's Regional Recording Programs which will continue to visit towns and communities across the State. Applications for the next iteration, Sounds of The Mid West, are open now.

$215,000 from the Contemporary Music Fund was invested in the programs in order to support music artists and audio engineers with limited or no access to professional recording facilities to record, publish and promote original songs.
