The department is hosting a webinar at 1.30pm to 2.30pm on 14 December to discuss the recommended designation of child safety officers within existing staff profiles at WA’s local governments.
The recommendation has been made as part of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse (the Royal Commission).
The webinar will assist staff who may be required to draft a response to the recommendation on behalf of their local government.
The State Government has released a discussion paper for the WA local government sector to better understand and respond to this recommendation, and is seeking a formal response to the discussion paper, preferably through council, from local governments by 2 April 2021.
Responses will inform the development of the State Government’s policy position.
