Intro

The Active Regional Communities grants aims to increase opportunities for regional people to participate in sport and active-recreation activities in regional Western Australia.

In total, ten initiatives will share in $34,900 in funding including:

  • $3000 to Synchro WA Inc to develop Artistic Swimming in the Mid West through coaching camps and local training events
  • $3000 to Southern Regional Gymnastics Association to increase participation in gymnastics in the Wheatbelt through hosting a regional championship as well as support for coaches and judges
  • $5000 to Synchro WA Inc to develop artistic swimming in the Great Southern through coaching camps and local training events
  • $5000 to Mount Barker Amateur Swimming Club to host Country Pennants 2021 including funding for volunteer event management and technical officials' courses, and providing a competitive environment for all swimmers
  • $2000 to Shire of Beverley to deliver a 6-week skateboarding clinic to boost the confidence of local youth using the new Moort Wabiny Park Skate Precinct
  • $3500 to Pony Club of WA Incorporated to host the State Tetrathlon Championships providing an opportunity for athletes across the State to compete at a championship level
  • $2000 to the Shire of Katanning to establish an athletics training centre to give children and youth within the Shire an opportunity to participate in athletics activities as well as upskill coaches and volunteers
  • $4000 to the Esperance Equestrian Club to fund a camp to attract new participants and upskill coaches
  • $2500 to Football West Limited to host a regional development roadshow in the Wheatbelt including a game leaders course, carnival and small sided games to build participation and allow staff to become accredited coaches and facilitators
  • $4900 to Tambellup Community Resources Centre Inc to host a 'Have a go' program allowing community members to participate in a range of activities not currently offered.

Organisations will also share in $8400 to help offset the costs of travel to inter-regional competitions and events through the State Government's North West Travel Subsidy scheme.

The Active Regional Communities program is open year-round and is administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
