A life guard entering the ocean

The highly anticipated Championships — nicknamed The Aussies — will be held from April 2-10, 2022 at Scarborough, Trigg and Secret Harbour beaches.

Supported by the State Government, through Tourism WA, the world's largest Surf Life Saving event has the potential to attract more than 8000 competitors, visitors, spectators and support crew to WA and boost businesses through visitor spend.

Western Australia last hosted the event in April 2018 at Scarborough and Trigg beaches, generating about $15.8 million, nearly 69,000 visitor nights and bringing in more than 8500 interstate and international visitors.

The main events of the 2022 event will be held at Scarborough beach, with beach sprints and relays at Trigg and board riding at Secret Harbour.

Adding to the action will be the Aussies festival zone in Scarborough, which will include food trucks, swimwear retailers and activities for families.

More than 80,000 followers of Surf Life Saving Australia's Facebook page will also be able to view the action at Western Australia's renowned beaches via a livestream of the event, which will also include promotion of the State.

The Aussies consists of more than 480 beach and ocean events, and brings together members from 315 Australian surf clubs.
