Among the attendees were Parliamentary Secretary to the Sport and Recreation Minister, Yaz Mubarakai, former Kidsport recipients Paralympian Ben Popham and champion gymnasts Keara and Kayla Nel, and Olympic runner Peter Bol.

Since the launch of the program in 2011, more than 245,000 vouchers have been provided to support more than 100,000 children to participate in club sport and swimming lessons.

The program is built on a strong partnership model between the State Government, local government, state sporting associations, sporting clubs and community organisations.

KidSport supports WA children to participate in community sport through $150 vouchers to help pay club fees, easing the financial burden on families.

More than $36 million has been funded into community sporting clubs and swim schools during this period.

KidSport is run by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, with the help of local governments and community sporting clubs.

Applications are open all year-round.
