The latest round of the WA Trail Planning Grants Program will support 16 projects that demonstrate thorough planning and sustainability to continue to grow the trails industry and enhance the tourism economy.

Funded projects in this round include planning for interpretative signage and infrastructure along a popular heritage trail in Fremantle, and a plan for a spur trail off the Munda Biddi Track connecting to Harvey town.

Managed by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the funding program aims to support the sustainable planning and development of recreational trails that aligns with the WA Strategic Trails Blueprint 2022-2027.

The blueprint was released in 2022 to guide the future investment and planning consistency in the development of sustainable trails development across the State and ensure more Western Australian’s are connected to Country through trails experiences.
