Outdoors October begins this Sunday 1 October with a month-long celebration of outdoor active recreation, encouraging Western Australians to start planning their outdoor adventures.

Outdoors October is supported by the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries and proudly led by Outdoors WA, the peak body for outdoor activities in the State.

In its tenth year, this annual event aims to inspire people of all ages across the state to step outside, embrace physical activity, and immerse themselves in the beauty of the great outdoors.

Western Australia is renowned for its outdoor lifestyle, boasting an abundance of walking trails, mountain biking routes, horse-riding tracks, and much more. After a long winter, October is the perfect time to break free of those indoor confines and embrace all that the outdoors has to offer.

Getting outdoors is also an investment in your wellbeing, offering a range of physical, mental, emotional, and social benefits that contribute to a healthier and happier life.

It’s estimated the health benefits of outdoor recreation see around $208 million in avoided healthcare costs in WA each year.

Outdoors WA has a range of ideas and activities to take part in — whether you're a keen hiker, paddling enthusiast, or simply looking for a friendly game at your local park, there's something for everyone. Many are free, family-friendly, and designed for beginners, making them accessible for all.

Discover events in your local area and join the outdoor adventure.
