Improved community safety at the popular Middleton Beach is a key outcome of the redevelopment, with a focus on improving lifesaving and water safety operations through a centralised lifesaving hub and better access to motorised water safety equipment.

The project will also deliver more welcoming facilities with spaces for training, education and events, ensuring the whole community will benefit from the redevelopment year-round.

The City of Albany are managing the project on behalf of the Department and awarded the construction contract in December 2023 to Smith Construction who are set to start work today.

The State Government has contributed $2.8 million toward the much-needed infrastructure project.
