A total of 43 local, State and national sport and active recreation organisations have received $1,477,357 in grants from the 2025-26 round of the Sport and Recreation Events Funding Program.
With most planned to be delivered from now to December, Western Australians will be able to take part in events like Broome's Big Ocean Community Swim, the Bike it to Ballidu gravel ride or the Avon Descent Festival, as well as attend sporting tournaments like the 2025 WA Open Golf Championship or outdoor events like the Garnduwa Festival 2025.
The program aims to diversify Western Australia's sport and recreation events calendar by supporting the delivery of mass participation and competitive events across metropolitan and regional WA, giving Western Australians opportunities to participate, spectate and celebrate sport in their communities.
Successful organisations are assisted in planning, securing and holding these events across the State. Program funding also supports organisations to develop strategic event plans or tender proposals, helping to attract major events to WA and grow future opportunities in the sector.
These events will take place alongside broader infrastructure improvements being delivered under PlayOn WA, the State Government's bold new initiative to guide investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure across WA by 2030.
The initiative aims to deliver 2030 community sport and recreation infrastructure items across WA by the year 2030, creating a lasting and positive impact across WA communities.
