Media release

A grass sporting oval lit at night with the text: 189 grassroots sporting clubs to receive a funding boost.

The funding for grassroots sporting clubs will deliver a range of new equipment including uniforms, balls, kit bags, goal nets, vehicles, trailers, padding and protective gear, as well as facility upgrades such as scoreboards, storage, seating and shade structures.

In addition to this $4.3 million, regional sporting clubs are receiving funding through the state's nine Regional Development Commissions.

These grants deliver on the WA Government's regional commitments, such as $20,000 for an additional cricket practice net at Burekup Cricket Club to be delivered through the South West Development Commission, and $10,000 from the Pilbara Development Commission for equipment at Hedland Junior Football Club.

The facility improvements are part of the PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative, which will deliver 2,030 community sport and recreation infrastructure items across WA by the year 2030, helping to deliver a lasting and positive impact for WA communities.

These 189 sporting groups make up around half of the total number of sporting organisations to receive funding as part of the 2025 State election commitments.
