The Director of Liquor Licensing understands that certain times of the year bring increased demand for packaged liquor, and increased liquor consumption on licensed premises, along with community expectations to access packaged liquor and licensed premises.

This is particularly true for public holiday long weekends.

As in previous years, the Director of Liquor Licensing (DLL) has determined that extended trading hours will be permitted on the following dates in 2026 without the need for licensees to apply for an Extended Trading Permit (ETP):

• Liquor stores in regional areas will be permitted to sell packaged liquor on and from the licensed premises from 10am to 10pm on:
  • 25 January 2026;
  • 1 March 2026;
  • 5 April 2026;
  • 26 April 2026
  • 31 May 2026;
  • 27 September 2026;
  • 13, 20 and 27 December 2026.
• Liquor stores in the metropolitan area, and hotels and taverns in both the metropolitan and regional areas, will be permitted to sell packaged liquor from 8am to 10am on 13, 20 and 27 December 2026.
  
• Hotels, taverns and small bars are permitted to trade for consumption on the licensed premises from 6am to 10am on Mother’s Day (10 May 2026) and Father’s Day (6 September 2026), provided the sale of liquor during these times is ancillary to a meal.
  
• The permission for extended trading on these dates does not apply to premises in regional WA where liquor restrictions are in place. Licensees in these areas will need to apply for an ETP, should they wish to seek approval for extended trading on any or all of these dates, and any application will be considered on its merits and in accordance with the Liquor Control Act 1988.

Licensees and their staff must continue to adhere to all conditions and requirements of their licence during the permitted dates for extended trading.
