Disclaimer

This policy is designed to provide information in regard to the subject matter covered, and with the understanding that the Gaming and Wagering Commission is not passing legal opinion or interpretation or other professional advice. The information is provided on the understanding that all persons undertake responsibility for assessing the relevance and accuracy of its contents.

Legislative basis

Section 8(2)(da) of the Gaming and Wagering Commission Act 1987 provides for the Gaming and Wagering Commission (the Commission) to take steps to minimise harm to the community caused by gambling.

Reducing the availability of ATMs and access to credit on the gaming footprint has been reported to assist in reducing harm caused from gambling.

Automatic Teller Machines

There are restrictions on the placement of ATMs within Crown Perth, and the amount of money that can be withdrawn within a 24 hour period. Limiting access to ATMs encourages patrons to have breaks in play as part of harm minimisation requirements.

ATMs are permitted on the same level as the casino main entry, close to the location of the security officers and under existing CCTV coverage.

ATMs are not permitted to be located:

  • in the area covered by the casino gaming licence; or
  • within 40 metres (walking distance) of any entrance to the areas to which the casino gaming licence relates, unless the ATM has a withdrawal limit of $400 per customer, per day (24 hours).
