The Gascoyne has a diverse range of recreational activities.
The region offers a diverse range of both active and passive recreational activities. The superb climate, hot summer and warm winter combined with the natural attractions of the region are enticing for outdoor recreation. Popular activities include surfing, kite boarding, fishing, camping, day outings and boating.
The State Government originally supported this program for three years and will continue to support the program for another three, to build on these established foundations and extend the program to provide training and education activities for WACFL participants and its communities.
The program is a collaboration between Healthway, the WACFL, the Department of Justice, the Mental Health Commission and The University of Western Australia.
The WACFL is the governing body for country football with 25 senior leagues, 150 clubs, 12,500 players and 5000 volunteers across Western Australia.
The department works closely with a range of stakeholders in the Gascoyne region. These include local governments, the Gascoyne Development Commission, State Government agencies and not-for-profit organisations.

Within the Gascoyne Sportshouse there are development officers for various sports. These officers play an important role in developing and growing the sport within the region and work in close partnership with the department.
