Western Australian Electoral Commission

  • The Western Australian Electoral Commission (WAEC) is responsible for the conduct of parliamentary, local government and industrial elections and referenda under various statutes. The WAEC conducts most local elections in WA, and has a number of useful resources available.
  • If you decide to nominate as a candidate, the WAEC encourages individuals to use their Nomination Builder to develop a candidate profile, which is required of all candidates. You can watch the step-by-step video for instructions on how to use Nomination Builder.
  • The Nomination Builder tool is available for use by prospective candidates to commence developing their profile several weeks prior to the commencement of the nomination period.
  • Important: The Nomination Builder does not process nominations. Once you have completed your candidate profile, you must make an appointment with the Returning Officer for your local government to submit your nomination during the nomination period. It is recommended that you book this appointment before the nomination period commences.
