Support and advice

The department supports the development of a sustainable and diverse sport and recreation industry in Western Australia.

We support an industry that encourages participation, develops talent and contributes to the health and wellbeing of all Western Australians. Our core function is to help local communities and organisations to be better at delivering sport and recreation services.

We do this by providing support and advice on:

  • developing community facilities and programs
  • organisational development
  • funding
  • high performance

A complex business

Running sports clubs and organisations is complex. In many ways, all sport is a business, with even the smallest clubs subject to a range of rules and regulations. This can make their management, sometimes difficult. However, help is amongst these pages.

The department’s sport and recreation consultants have experience across all aspects of sport and recreation, including policy, regulations, finance and promotions. They are here to help organisations best prepare and manage their resources and members, from planning a new sports facility to undertaking a training course.
