Fremantle venue brought to life

Jun 13, 2019, 09:56 AM by User Not Found
An iconic Fremantle building has received a new lease of life after undergoing acoustic baffling and sound attenuation to reduce noise emissions.

The Artillery Drill Hall, built in 1896, has played an important role as a live music hub for the community in the last 30 years.

The building will reopen as live music and performing arts venue Freo.Social later this year. The works will improve the venue’s capacity to host concerts by local and touring acts and contribute to the thriving live music scene in Fremantle.

There will be a focus on staging local content, which will provide significant employment opportunities for Western Australian musicians.

The department contributed $250,000 to the National Trust towards the works to enhance its $1 million investment into the venue.
