• Shared sports facility will be used by local community and adjacent Coastal Lakes College.
• Facility will cater for Australian rules football, cricket and diamond sports.

The $7.9 million project will cater for Australian rules football, cricket and diamond sports (tee‑ball, baseball and softball) for the local community and the adjacent high school.

The State Government contributed $4.65 million to the project, which included the development of the facility's three new ovals and floodlighting.

The $2.85 million contributed by the City of Mandurah provided for the development of the facility's new clubrooms.

The Lakelands Park sports facility is on the corner of Mandurah Road and Banksiadale Gate.

The State Government's $4.65 million contribution to the project comprised of:

• $2.5 million State Government election commitment
• $1.3 million Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) program funding
• $850,000 from the Department of Education.

Funding provided for the project from other sources included:

• $2.8 million from the City of Mandurah;
• $300,000 from the Australian Sports Commission; and
• $150,000 from the AFL.

The facility will be able to be used jointly by the local community and the Department of Education's Coastal Lakes College.
