WA-first Cultural Infrastructure Framework released

The State Government has released the first ever Cultural Infrastructure Framework for WA, outlining a roadmap for holistic cultural infrastructure planning and investment in the State until 2030 and beyond.
The WA Cultural Infrastructure Framework 2030+ details the principles for how cultural infrastructure can drive participation in arts, culture and creative activities for all Western Australians, and showcase the State to the world.  
 
Cultural infrastructure refers to physical infrastructure such as venues, collections and digital technology, but also includes the staff, volunteers and digital networks required to operate these spaces. 
 
The Framework was developed through extensive stakeholder consultation, a review of cultural planning practices and sustainable development goals from around the world, as well as State planning frameworks and policy priorities such as Diversify WA. 
 

This Framework introduces a suite of documents that form the Cultural Infrastructure Toolkit (Toolkit): 

  • WA Cultural Infrastructure Framework 2030+ Summary 
  • WA Cultural Infrastructure Framework 2030+
  • WA Cultural Infrastructure Investment Guidelines
  • WA Cultural Infrastructure Map. 
More documents will be added over time to ensure the Toolkit is comprehensive and current.  
 
These resources will enable a holistic approach for all stakeholders including local governments, State and Federal Governments, the creative and cultural sector, private investors and the community.
