Announced ahead of Australian athletes returning from the Paris 2024 Olympics, the funding increase to be provided from 2024-25 to 2027-28 is in addition to the WAIS annual base funding of $9.5 million.

It will enable WAIS to provide better support to athletes striving for international sporting success, deliver a high level of athlete care and develop partnerships to enhance the State's high performance sport system.

The additional funding includes:

• a $9 million base funding increase for WAIS
• $7.5 million for improvements to WAIS operations, governance, and athlete development and care programs
• $500,000 for refurbishments to the WAIS High Performance Service Centre to accommodate additional staffing.

For over 4 decades, WAIS has developed a proud history of supporting local athletes in achieving their sporting dreams. It is a vital part of the fabric of the WA sporting community, from grassroots through to high performance.
