New Chapter for WA children’s book author Sharon Giltrow

Oct 24, 2024, 07:38 AM by Andrea Prestini
Western Australian children’s book author Sharon Giltrow is back with Toby King and the Utility Belt, the second book in her middle-grade series The Utility Belt.

With the support of a $14,860 Arts U-15k grant in 2021, Sharon was able to complete the manuscript and prepare it for publication.

The funding allowed Sharon to work with local editors, create promotional materials with the help of a WA photographer, and launch her website. She also wrote blog posts for The Children’s Book Academy and took part in author talks at libraries, bookstores, and writing festivals across WA.

Her hard work paid off when she secured a publishing contract with US-based Clear Fork Press, a publisher known for  bringing diverse stories to young readers.

Toby King and the Utility Belt is set to be released soon, marking another milestone for Sharon and WA’s literary scene.
